Fire Code
All federal, state, and local rules apply to projects built in the County, even if they are not listed here. Rockwall County, Texas, has a County Fire Code that includes the rules from the 2015 International Fire Code and the 2015 edition of the NFPA 101 Life Safety Code.
Building Permit Application
Before a building permit can be approved, all plans and documents for the application must be approved by the Fire Marshal. The following permits and requirements must be approved before the building permit is issued:
- On Site Sewage Facility (OSSF) system plans approved by the County Designated Representative.
- Driveway/Culvert permits approved by the Public Works Department.
- All contractors working in Rockwall County must be registered with the County and show proof of their Texas State License along with their Texas State Driver's License.

Building Inspections
- Inspections related to building construction must be called into Bureau Veritas at 817-335-8111 or toll-free 877-837-8775.
- Inspection requests can also be faxed to 817-335-8110 or toll-free 877-837-8859.
- Inspections received by 5 pm Monday through Friday will be performed the next business day.
Fire Inspections
Inspections that must be requested through the Fire Marshal's office at 972-204-7600.
